Our Favorite Mother-Son Wedding Songs

We can’t leave out the mother/son dance! This special moment between the groom and his mom (or chosen person) is bound to bring tears to the eyes of more than a couple guests and it’s important to get the song choice right. Here are our 5 favorites…

"All You Need Is Love," by The Beatles

This is a great message for a mother to her son as she sends him off on his wedding day.

Lyrics we love: "There's nothing you can know that isn't known/Nothing you can see that isn't shown/There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be/It's easy/All you need is love"

"I Say a Little Prayer," by Aretha Franklin

A classic that’s a great upbeat song for a mother/son dance. Especially if you’re looking for some great choreography.

Lyrics we love: "While combing my hair, now/And wondering what dress to wear, now/I say a little prayer for you/Forever, forever, you'll stay in my heart"

"God Only Knows," by The Beach Boys

You don’t hear this one very often as a mother/son wedding song, but we think you should. Tissues, please.

Lyrics we love: "If you should ever leave me/Though life would still go on, believe me/The world could show nothing to me/So what good would living do me/God only knows what I'd be without you"

"I'll Be There," by The Jackson 5

Another song you might not think of right away when trying to find a mother/son wedding song. We love this message both from a mother to her son and also the other way around!

Lyrics we love: "I'll reach out my hand to you/I'll have faith in all you do/Just call my name and I'll be there"

"He Gets That from Me," by Reba McEntire

Our favorite sweet country song for a mother/son dance.

Lyrics we love: "His curly hair and his knobby knees/The way the sun brings those freckles out/Talkin' talk never miss a beat/Yeah he gets that from me"

Don’t forget to check out our list of father-daughter wedding songs! A lot of the songs on that list work for fathers and daughters OR mothers and sons. :)
